welcome a new composer, Marianna Nystrom, to our listing. The first
publication of her solo pieces with us is her book, Snowfall.
Marianna Nystrom is a third generation harpist, composer
and teacher with a large private studio in St. Mary’s County,
MD. She received her bachelor’s degree with honors in piano
performance from Connecticut College and a master’s degree
in music education from Jacksonville University. After inheriting
her grandmother’s Clark Harp, she was inspired to continue
the family tradition and embrace the harp as her primary instrument.
Marianna is well known in the Washington/ Southern
Maryland area for her performances at regional festivals and benefit
concerts. Marianna has played with Grace Griffith in the Celtic
Connection and Connemara, her daughter Kris Snyder in Generations
and with Tatiana Johanning in Innisfree. She is the principal harpist
on the CD Celtic Dreams by Innisfree available through local bookstores
and Borders Books and Music.
In addition to her solo harp work, she is a certified
Music Practitioner, providing live healing harp music at the bedside
to the ill and dying.
